Flood Watch
URGENT - IMMEDIATE BROADCAST REQUIRED
FLOOD WATCH
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE CHICAGO/ROMEOVILLE IL
910 PM CST TUE FEB 27 2007
… FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT FROM WEDNESDAY EVENING THROUGH LATE THURSDAY NIGHT …
The National Weather Service in Chicago has issued a:
- Flood Watch for portions of Illinois and Indiana including the following areas: In Illinois, Boone, Cook, De Kalb, DuPage, Ford, Grundy, Iroquois, Kane, Kankakee, Kendall, La Salle, Lake, Lee, Livingston, McHenry, Ogle, Will and Winnebago. In Indiana, Benton, Jasper, Lake, Newton, and Porter.
- From Wednesday evening through late Thursday night.
- A storm system moving through the Midwest late Wednesday through Friday may bring locally heavy rainfall of an inch or more to some parts of the watch area by early Friday morning. With warmer air streaming north ahead of this system, melting of existing snow pack could add another inch or more of liquid water run off to area rivers. This, along with the potential for ice jamming, may lead to significant rises and localized flooding.
A Flood Watch means there is the potential for flooding based on current forecasts.
You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible Flood Warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding develop.
NOTE FROM KC9GHZ: Barring further developments, I will do a post tomorrow afternoon or evening detailing the threat to Lake County.
