Severe Weather Section Completed
The Severe Weather section of the website has been completed! I’ll give you a rundown of the features available.
All the products issued by the Storm Prediction Center are available. This includes the overview graphic, Convective Outlooks, Watches, Mesoscale Discussions, the national WWA map, and national storm reports.
A local area WWA (Watches, Warnings, and Advisories) map is available.
Two local severe weather outlooks are available: the National Weather Service Hazardous Weather Outlook, and the Lake County SKYWARN Severe Weather Outlook. The NWS Hazardous Weather Outlook is the official severe weather outlook issued for the entire Chicago county warning area, updated twice a day. The Lake County SKYWARN Severe Weather Outlook is a local severe weather outlook tailored to Lake County, updated as frequently or infrequently as needed.
Storm reports are available. You can select from two categories of reports: All local storm reports received by the National Weather Service, or just the storm reports that were received by Lake County SKYWARN and forwarded to the National Weather Service.
Significant Event Summaries will become available with each new significant weather event. For each significant weather event that impacts Lake County, I will write up a summary of the conditions leading up to the event, the chronology of the event, what actions were taken by Lake County SKYWARN / Lake County RACES, and any damage reports received.
So, that about sums it up. Go on now - explore, enjoy!
