Tuesday Night Outlook
Text From The RACES Tuesday Night Net:
Overall, we’re looking at a pretty nice week. Skies will be partly cloudy to mostly sunny, with high temperatures hovering right around 80 through the weekend. There will be a chance of showers and maybe an isolated thunderstorm Wednesday night. Thursday into Friday there will be a chance of thunderstorms, possibly severe. We’ll return to partly cloudy skies for the weekend, with highs rising into the mid-80’s into the beginning of next week.
Detailed Forecast Discussion:
A dry ridge of high pressure has built over the region following the passage of the last cold front. Under clear skies and cool, dry mid-level flow nightly lows will drop to around 60 F. An upper level disturbance coupled with another cold front will drop out of the northern Plains and track across the upper Mississippi Valley Thursday. The timing of this system is still pretty uncertain, as the models still aren’t in agreement. There will be a chance of severe weather attached to this system. So far NWS Chicago has been leaning towards a drier, less eventful forecast for now. However, the Storm Prediction Center has placed the region under an area of Slight Risk both Thursday and Friday. Following that round of precipitation, temperatures should begin a slow climb back towards 90 sometime next week. This weekend should be partly cloudy with highs in the mid-80’s for ARRL Field Day.
