Flash Flood Watch

The National Weather Service in Chicago has issued a Flash Flood Watch for portions of Illinois including Lake County from 9:00 PM CDT Monday evening through 1:00 PM CDT Tuesday afternoon.

Thunderstorms will be increasing in coverage over portions of northern Illinois and extreme northwest Indiana through this evening. Very moist air feeding into these storms is expected to lead to excessive rainfall amounts in some areas.

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that could lead to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation. Persons in low-lying or flood prone areas should be prepared to move quickly to higher ground should heavy rainfall be observed. All persons should monitor later forecasts and listen for later statements and possible Warnings.
