Severe Weather and Flood Outlook 7 AM
Severe weather outbreak is expected over the area today mainly south of I-80. However, severe weather will also develop over the area this morning for northeast Illinois. Line of t-storms capable of severe weather currently from Racine county to northern De Kalb county will move into the area before 8AM. Primary effect will be possible damaging winds as high as 70 mph. Some hail to 3/4 ” in diameter is also possible. Maximum dynamics for severe weather will be later this morning.
Flood warnings are in effect for the Des Plaines river at Russell and Gurnee. The river will rise to 0.3′ above flood stage by Friday at Russell and 0.8′ above flood stage at Gurnee by Wednesday morning. The river will remian above flood stage for most of the week.
Following this bout of severe weather, a major weather pattern change will take hold. We could even see flurries by tomorrow morning with strong NW winds. Temps Wednesday through Saturday may not get out of the 30’s. Night time lows could reach the teens on Saturday morning. This pattern will continue until about the 10th. Then a more normal spring pattern should develop and carry us throught the balance of spring.
