Severe Weather Discussion Update

I’ve been looking over the lastest information and have come to the conclusion that something is going wrong with our severe weather outbreak. The problem is I haven’t figured out what that something is. I’ve seen enough of these outbreaks to know when it looks different than it should.

Without going into any detail, I’m still fairly certain that we will get thunderstorms tonight but the chances of a widespread severe weather event is slipping away. Don’t get me wrong, we really don’t need the kind of severe weather that was thought to be coming. For me, I hate to ramp everyone up only to later tell the same people it isn’t going to be as bad as I thought. It doesn’t take too long to get the cry wolf sindrome going.

It seems that the storm system is slowing down. This is causing the air aloft to remain warmer for a longer peiod of time. In fact, if it stays to warm for too long, thunderstrom will have a tough time of it.

Let’s see what happens over the next 4 hours.
